Osher, a Stamford resident collected a $5,000 check for top spot in the intermediate category at the first Philadelphia Inquirer Sudoku National Championship held Oct. 19 through 21.
It was a challenging event in front of hundreds of fans gathered at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, but an organized, quick-thinking mind is key to solving the Sudoku challenge, said Osher.
"At the end of the day it's all about logic," he said of the puzzle which has captivated tens of millions of people.
Thomas Snyder, 27, a post-doctoral student in bio-engineering at Stanford University, picked up $10,000 and a trip to India for the world championships, after winning the advanced category.
